NO MORE AUTOMATIC EMPLOYMENTS FOR FIRST CLASS GRADUATES – OAU VC DECLARES

The Vice-Chancellor of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Bamitale Omole, has announced that yhe university will cease to perform its lifelong tradition of giving automatic jobs to first class graduates.

He said the discontinuation is due to the economic down turn which has also affected the university finances.

Although, there were alot of mixed reactions that accompanied the decision of the university to stop the automatic employment scheme.

While some students saw it as unfair and inconsistent, others supported the school’s decision. Some argued that ‘it was an error to think that only a First Class graduate could better impact the needed academic knowledge.’
